Memorial Motorcycle
Ride
There
were more than 300 motorcycles at last year's fund-raising memorial
motorcycle ride. It was a great success. This year's ride is planned to
be bigger and better. We will travel the same 50-mile route in about two
hours. Again this year, it all starts from 5 Points Shopping Center in
Biddeford.
All bikes are welcome!!
The 2009 ride is scheduled for
Saturday, August 15th.
Again, breakfast food will be available on-site before the ride.
Please spread the word! Forward this e-mail to
your friends.
Take-off is at 10:00 a.m. You can pre-register
on-line for $10 at
http://www.NormAudie.org/ride.htm and
then zip right into the line-up when you arrive on the day of the ride.
(There are also further details, directions, and a map, on the website.)
Bruce (Norm's Dad) has been a
proud member of the law enforcement community for more than thirty years
and enjoys much friendship and support from that relationship. The ride
will be police motorbike escorted again this year, so once you take off,
your feet won't touch the ground again until you land two hours later.
You'll be escorted through
Saco,
Buxton, Gorham, Scarborough,
Old Orchard Beach,
and Biddeford.
Landing will be about 12:00 noon and the barbecue and
music will already be going.

RUN FOR THE FALLEN, August 30,2009
Run for the
Fallen Maine is an organization dedicated to keeping alive the
memory of our military heroes that gave their lives to protect our
freedom since September 11, 2001. On August 22nd 2008 I organized a
group of runners to run a relay event from Ogunquit, Maine to
Monument Square in Portland, Maine. The run encompassed a total of
55 miles. Each mile was dedicated to the memory of one of our heroes
that lived in Maine, had family from Maine or had some ties to our
home State. We were truly honored to be able to stage this event for
these men and women and their families. Last year the event was
hastily put together at the last minute. We didn't find out about
the National Run for the Fallen until there were only 2 weeks to
go. We did the best job we could with the time that we had and
honored these men and their loved ones. We noticed after the run
culminated in Monument Square, that families of our Fallen Heroes
had no mechanism to meet and celebrate their lives in glorious
setting. This year after the run all will be invited to Fort
Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth. This is one of our most stunning
and symbolic spots in all of Maine where the Portland Head
Lighthouse is located. There, we will celebrate the lives of these
brave souls with a traditional Maine Lobster Bake. I hope this will
be a fitting tribute to our Brave men and their loved ones.
This event will take place on August 30th, 2009. I hope to see you
then.
RUN FOR THE FALLEN
John Mixon
Attention
all PGR members.....we may plan a group ride on this date, the goal
of which will be to slowly ride the route with our flags mounted in
honor of these heroes. Approval from leadership and the event
coordinators must be obtained before we can proceed with our plans.
Stand by for more details.
